One of the first online
travel firms to offer specialist European football
trips is enjoying unprecedented growth, as more
than two million British travellers seek holidays
watching or playing sport.
Travel Management Group, of Leamington, which
operates its matchdays.com website, says bookings
for flights, hotels and match tickets are growing
by the month.
Chairman Ian
Dunwoody said
that “special interest” holidays had grown by
17% over the past four years. “We anticipated
how this niche market would develop and launched
matchdays three years ago, building on our pedigree
of sports travel, he said.
