A Warwickshire business travel firm
is giving clients the chance to
show off their green credentials
Travel Management Group (TMG),
based in Leamington Spa, is offering
corporate clients the opportunity
to offset their carbon footprint
from global travel by funding worldwide
projects.
They
have teamed up with Climate Care,
a UK company dedicated to reducing
global warming.
Guy
Dunwoody, Director of Marketing
Operations, said offsetting the
environmental impact of travel is
increasingly important to their
clients.
He
said: "Tackling climate change
has become a major political issue
and is an area in which many businesses
are keen to play their part - we
are happy to now be able to offer
them an innovative solution.
"The
companies we work with often have
specific environmental targets laid
out in their Corporate Social Responsibility
guidelines and TMG can supply very
accurate information about their
travel arrangements.
"We
are able to use this information
to help Climate Care to calculate
the exact levels of carbon emissions
the businesses need to offset."
The
projects TMG clients will help fund
include a scheme installing energy-efficient
lighting in low income homes in
South Africa.
Climate
Care also supports farmers in the
Indian state of Chhattisgarh by
providing them with a foot powered
water pump, allowing them to irrigate
their crops all-year round without
having to use polluting diesel-powered
pumps.
Stella
Bell from Climate Care said: "Climate
change is emerging as a significant
business issue and we're really
pleased to be working with TMG and
their high-profile clients.
"Companies
signing up to the scheme can choose
what percentage of their emissions
they want to offset. By paying for
their carbon, companies are taking
an important step towards a low-carbon
economy, and are helping to fund
life-changing green energy projects
at the same time."
Climate
Care already works with a number
of other large organisations including
British Gas, the Co-operative Bank
and Guardian Newspapers.
